Who We Are?

We are a newly formed non-profit organization created to promote the appreciation of fingerstyle guitar through concerts, workshops and good will.

Concerts

For whatever reason the biggest names in this genre of music have traditionally never made it to Detroit on their tours. We seek to change that. We will be promoting fingerstyle guitar concerts primarily in the southeastern Michigan area on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

Workshops

Most often the artist whose concert we sponsor, will conduct a workshop the following day. These typically last a couple of hours and are hands on, up close and personal exchanges. Such intimate workshops provide students with an extraordinary look at the technique and motivation behind the artist’s songs and style. Tablature and study material will be available in advance as appropriate.  Workshops will be on a limited space basis and Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society (MFGS) members will be given first priority.

Goodwill

We will be holding gatherings at various coffee houses, pubs, etc throughout the area to exchange ideas and play guitar! Our gatherings will enable members to come to know each other, learn more about this type of music and play their music live in a supportive, collegial environment. As musicians we will also be offering the enjoyment of our art on a pro-bono basis whenever possible (charitable events, nursing homes, etc.).
